San Diego Watercolor Society at Balboa Park, International Cottages

I spent a peaceful afternoon sketching and painting with the San Diego Watercolor Society. My subject was the House of Germany which gave me trouble because of the blank wall to the right of the door.

Spanish Village, Balboa Park

Spanish Village is located in Balboa Park and consists of several little buildings which are shops and artist studios combined. This is my sketch of the Sculpture Guild, one of the studio shops. This was done while on a meet up with the San Diego Plein Air Meet Up Group.

Ramona Open Studio Tour

GARY AND I went on the Ramona Studio Tour. Today we mostly concentrated on the pottery studios. All of the artists shared their studio set up and talked to us about their techniques. We visited the Begents, thee Vargos, Dave Lambert and the Snyders. We learned a lot and got VERY inspired.

I purchased pottery from Dave Lambert and a little knit coin purse from Patricia Pharr-Snyder.

I did these pencil sketches while visiting with Francesca and her husband who were visiting from London. I was going to color the sketches when I got home but I was too tired. I filled about 7 pages in my sketchbook today.

Birds

Yesterday I went outside to sketch a planter made in the shape of birds. I decided on this subject because the real birds fly away when I sit out in my kitchen patio. Not this time!  I got to sketch a few real birds eating out of one of the bird feeders.

mosaic with kate O'Brien

This is a mosaic I did at Kate O'Brien's class at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas. It was sponsored by the San Dieguito Artist Guild. There is a short video of the other artist's work also.

 This mosaic was not created with tile. It was created with glass and not I haven't put grout on it yet. The size is 12 x 12 inches (wood).
