Crow Raven 3 inch Round Sticker

Coronavirus Journal Entry

I have been keeping an "isolation" journal in my sketchbook journal for 42 days now. My blog has gone by the wayside as I tried to figure out if blogs are still relevant and if people still read them. Casein sketch of Crow

This was my first time using casein. I have struggled to learn gouache and decided to give casein a try. My son gave me a nice set of James Gurney Shiva Paints (set of 6) and it was a good introduction using this medium. This painting sketch painting was done from a photograph.

Relief carving

This is a "relief carving" I created at a workshop held at the San Diego Museum of Art. It was carved in clay, lopsided and just a waste. The workshop was not what I had in mind but I just can't throw this little bird away. I finally painted it today. Poor thing.

I got a new mouse for my computer and the "hard" plastic on the package was so thin it looked perfect for a stencil. Cut with an exacto knife.

Paper Mache Crow

I am finally calling this guy finished. He is a Crow Raven (well, which is he?) dressed in overalls with a red and white checkered shirt. He was made from an empty Taster's Choice Coffee container along with newspaper and cardboard. I made paste from flour and water and used plaster cloth as well. You can barely see his eyes but he DOES have some. They are gray.

Paper Mache Projects

I finished another paper mache cow with sunglasses. He started with a milk carton and cut paper tubes for the legs. The face was formed with crumpled newspaper. The tail and ears were made with cut out cardboard. They were attached to the other parts of the body with masking tape and plaster cloth. It was then covered with paper mache using newspaper and homemade paste. He's painted with acrylic paint.
