Sketching at Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial in La Jolla

This sketch was done on the back side of the watercolor paper. No matter how hard I tried to put in my darks they were soaked up by the paper. It was a fun morning anyway, I met with the San Diego Urban Sketchers. A 3:38 minute video of the morning is shown below.

Wolf Moon

I belong to a Facebook group that posts a moon for every month. I just got mine in on the 29th. I kept it simple with colored pencil but there are some beautiful posts so far.

JANUARY – Full Wolf Moon Amid the cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages.

This sketch was done at Spanish Village in Balboa Park this morning. It was done in colored pencil. (The stamp was done in life drawing by my friend Stephen Sloan.)

Note: Balboa Park is the location of the 3rd Annual West Coast Urban Sketchers Sketch Crawl which will take place August 7,8, and 9th 2015.

Left side: Me and Terry had breakfast before sketching. The lady in the drawing is a stranger in the food area.

Right side: One of the gorillas I sketched, Vila is 52 years old. The oldest gorilla that lived in the United States was 55 years old.
