Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego

This was done while sketching and painting at the Old Mission Dam with my friend Lyn. This dam is located in Missjon Trails Regional Park in San Diego.

It ws built in the early 1800s using Kumeyaay labor under the direction of the Franciscan Padres from the San Diego Mission.

Free tuesdays

The San Diego Art Institute - Museum of the Living Artists is currently showing the
Southern California Regional Award Exhibit so me and Kathyrn took advantage of FREE Tuesdays to check it out and take a picture for Allison's Jumping in Art Museums Blog.
I jumped for Ellen Dieter's "Walking in the Neighborhood"
Kathryn jumped for Christine Schwimmer's "Guy w/no Name"
We got there early to do some sketching in the garden before the museum opened.

Free Tuesdays

Today was Free Tuesdays at Balboa Park so my husband and I went for a visit to the San Diego Art Institute and the Mingei International Museum. While we were there I had him take pictures of me for the Jumping in Art Museums blog.

I had a hard time getting off the ground....

Dan Adams was one of the solo shows at the San Diego Art Institute and I was excited to get to see another one of his shows. He had many pieces with people in them this time but I especially like his goopy oil paintings of dogs.

Balboa Park, San Diego

This fountain is in the back of a restaurant in Balboa Park.
I took two pieces for the juried show at The San Diego Art Institute
and picked up one that didn't get in last month.
Watercolor, 3 x 4.5 inches

I also picked up a piece that was in the
San Diego Watercolor Society show last month.
Viewing the art at these two galleries made me want to use gauche.
I'm sad that Anna Nicole Smith died.
