from a talented friend, Eileen Dailey, I like how the paper matches and how she tied the slippers together. I LOVE these.

Everyday Matters #174 Draw a bridge
a funny thing happened after I read that the challenge was a bridge. ..
I actually thought I would have to dig out some old pictures of the Coronado Bay Bridge in San Diego, but I didn't want to go through the hassle.
What bridge can I draw? Where will I find one?
Suddenly, out of the clear blue sky, my friend Eileen emailed some pictures from her recent trip to Berkeley, California.
There it was right in front of my face, bright as day.. the Golden Gate Bridge, in San Francisco.
Here is my sketch and my "entry" for EDM Draw a bridge from drawn from my friend's photo.

Thanks Eileen!

My birthday dinner
This is just a sketch while waiting for out bill at dinner. It's done in a watercolor moleskine but I had glued tissue paper from my friend Eileen. A gift sent to me that I opened first thing in the morning! I always write a jingle for my age, that's why there are so many little poems on the page.

Paper mache goddess
A paper mache Goddess of Creativity would be cool for my art room. I did research about her and I I have done several sketches trying to come up with a design but they all keep looking the same. I think I am ready to start.

She is the only woman in the 7 Gods of Happiness. I found out about her from my friend Eileen.

This is a little key chain of the 7 Gods that Eileen gave me.
I could NOT find the pictures of Eileen's OLD WOODEN 7 Gods of Happiness. They are just beautiful and in a wooden box that her dad gave her many years ago.

A good website to read about them is: http://www.onmarkproductions.com/html/seven.shtml He also sells statues.

The 7 Gods of Happiness
When I visited my friend, Eileen in Arizona this summer, I was fascinated by her beautiful OLD set of "The Seven Gods of Happiness" that her dad gave her. They came in a beautiful wooden box and I liked everything about them. I sketched them and posted them on my blog here.

About a month ago she sent me this little gift and I became obsessed with them again.

I would like to do a paper mache of the only woman in the group.
She is the goddess of music, fine art, eloquence and literature. There are certain elements she is usually depicted with. These are: a mandolin, a jade, and a snake. These are my first sketches of what my goddess will look like.

These are my new sketches, showing the goddess with a paint brush, the mandolin at her side, wearing a robe (that resembles my own robe) a jade hanging from her neck and standing on the snake.
The graphic on the left is her back view.
The circle to the right is my pretend Japanese signature.

Arizona Adventure Number 2
I had the most wonderful visit with my friend in Arizona. These are a few sketches and pics from my trip. My friend practices Buddhism, eats VERY healthy and is a neat person to be around.

This is a beautiful salad Eileen made one night. She made her own dressing too!

Eileen's altar. A cool little corner of the room.
