in the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains.
It is famous for its apple pies and bed and breakfast inns. . .

EDM Challenge #121 Draw a COIN and write about it

My coin is a "buffalo" or "Indian head" nickel dated 1938. I got it when I worked in retail several years ago. We opened a roll of nickels and the entire roll was full of Indian heads. There were about 4 employees working at the time so we split them up between us. I think I just wanted them because everyone else did.



When you see a penny on the ground do you pick it up?

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I read somewhere that when you see a penny it means the earth is trying to give something to us and we should pick it up and take it. Not to shun the gift. That's a nice thought.

I guess.

Maybe.

and then there is the saying...
See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have good luck.

EDM Challenge #120

Everyday Matters Challenge #120 is draw a flashlight and write about it. When I finished drawing my flashlight it was so funny to see how long and skinny it got in my sketchbook. Not so, in real life.

I keep my flashlights in the washroom because they always disappear when certain people don't put them away when they are done with them. This flashlight was not found in the washroom but on the dresser. Like socks . . . I buy flashlights quite often.

It's ok.

EDM Challenge 21 Draw something Vintage

Everyday Matters Challenge #21 is
Draw something old, antique or vintage.

This 67 bug was my husband's first car.
I have had tons of breakdowns in it and have journaled about it in my sketchbook. I have shed many tears over this car, broke down, been stranded, heard many fond memories from strangers about the bug they had, made angry remarks to to my husband about it and also laughed and enjoyed driving it. Me and this car have a love/hate relationship.

This is my 67 bus. I bought it when I was young because my boyfriend loved it. How silly was that? Now he is my husband and he has a 67 collection because he has a 67 Karmen Ghia too. Luckly I don't have to drive them any more, but I have to admit they are kind of cute.

I love this man!

This muffler man stands on a street corner in Escondido, CA.
I finally stopped and took a picture
because I know one day he will leave.
These type of structures are becoming extinct!

EDM Challenge #37 Draw some keys

These are my keys and EDM Challenge number 37.
I got to draw them today while working
on a thank you card for my nephew.
He sent me this cow key ring that moos when I press the udders!

NCSFA Sketch and Paint Out - Private Garden

The sketch and paint out was at a
private garden in Escondido, California.
A nice couple lent us their property for the morning and
about 6 ladies from the North County Society of Fine Arts
took pictures and painted.

There was a lot to see in different parts of the 4 acres
that surrounded their home;
including cottages, a fairy garden,
a few waterfalls, ponds, fish and tons of flowers and plants.

Postage

Too bad. Postage goes up to 41 cents.

Today I did Everyday Matters Challenge #118, Draw Some Hair
and I also did Sketching Everyone I Know, #5.

Remembrance

I went to a remembrance picnic for someone I didn't know very well
but was still pretty special.

I knew it wasn't "proper" to sketch the people but it's a habit.

Under the weather

Maybe it was because I turned 56. . . naw. . .
it was a happy birthday.
Here is my slogan for this year.

My kids said I made up a song for my 55th birthday but I think they're wrong.
