journal entry 03-18-2009

The DVD, How to Draw a Bunny is about the collage, and performance artist, Ray Johnson. They say he was the founder of "mail art". He would paint and draw so much that he started sending pieces of the work to friends and family. He was a pretty strange character. When he sold his work he would ask the collector what they wanted to pay for the piece, then he would make a counter offer, then wheel and deal before letting go of the work. He didn't paint very much, his work consisted mainly of drawings and collage. Other times he would "put himself INTO the work".
