Pet Peeve Number 1 or.....Nut Buckets

There are nice little signs asking people not to sample the nuts and seeds but every time I shop at Henry's there are people eating out of the buckets. I really hate it when people eat the food I am going to buy. I don't want to be a crazy lady so I try to ignore them but I just can't. It's my pet peeve.

The Beets were beautiful

The Rancho Bernardo Winery had the Farmers Market today and the Beets were beautiful.
A painter's dream, the complimentary colors of the reddish purples with the greens of the leaves. Just look to nature for the best colors.

Not today though, I painted a ceramic crab and a plant.

Rodeo ACEO

I became fascinated with rodeos when I first moved to San Diego.
I still like sketching and painting them once in a while.
Here is one I did this weekend.

EDM 112 Draw Something Fresh

Everyday Matters Challenge 112 is draw something fresh
I hardly ever buy fruits and vegetables from the Farmers Market
but the fresh flowers are the BEST!
They last forever and the price is low.
This drawing is just a small selection from the bunch I got this week.
Fresh flowers on the kitchen table always brighten up my spirit.

EDM Challenge 31 Draw Something You Collect

This is my fake money collection. The drawing is at the end of this post but I am also sharing my collection.

I got my first one in the early 90s long before we had copiers and our own printers in the home.
I was a freelance graphic designer and the printer I worked for printed it on his press. He got a visit from the FBI. It turns out it was ok if he printed it pink and a larger size than a normal bill. I was really excited to get it. Now it looks pretty common and not very exciting but I remember it was kind of rare back then. The only fake money I had seen was monopoly money. It measures 3.5 x 8.5 inches.

This was my first million dollar bill handed to me by a customer when I did freelance graphic design. I just sat and stared at it because it looked and felt so real but I knew it wasn't. It measures 2.5 x 6.5 inches.

This is a very tiny piece of a fake ten dollar bill. I found it on the ground. It's 1.5 inches tall.

This is my second 100 dollar bill. I got it at a street fair. It's the largest in my collection and measures a whopping 4 x 9 inches.

I got this buck from the comic convention in 2003 it is 2 x 3.5 inches.

This is my second 1 million dollar bill. It was given to me by a guy that sat next to me on a plane. It has some preaching religious thing on the back of it and the guy started to preach to me a little and asked me to pray with him. Boy I sure did. Usually people like that annoy me so much but I was so afraid of flying I didn't mind him at all. It's 2.5 x 6 inches.
This is my rough draft of my own currency. The currency is the Lycurr. The first lady is Aidyl my cartoon character on a 55 dollar bill . . . I mean 55 lycurr. I haven't designed the back yet and the front is subject to change. Right now it's 2.5 x 6 inches but I think it will end up about 5 x 11 inches. I plan to have a lot more detail in it and make the nostrils A LOT smaller.

Cows, journals, and ebay

I finished a little cow painting today.

I love going to the comic Convention every year
to look at the "little guys", the young people that sit at their tables
selling their zines for 5 bucks. Some as little as 2 bucks.
I take money just for supporting them.
They have wonderful little journals . . . sometimes.
I suppose that's why I liked Robert and Aline Crumb, Harvey Pekar and
Eddie Campbell, so much and collected everything they wrote.
I liked their journal type of drawing and writing.

I am selling a collection of Prime Cuts Magazines from Fantagraphics books if anyone is interested. Starting bid. $4.99.
Just clearing the clutter!
Thanks for all your nice comments. Especially Eileen and Bonny.

EDM # 19 Draw Something You've Made

Drawing them made me want to do more of them.
I don't know why . . . I guess it's an artist thing.

Arbor Day, Poway Oak Tree

I am going to sit at a little Arbor Day Art Booth in April. I guess that's what made me do this little flyer about Arbor Day. Poway's City Logo has an Oak Tree on it so I used the Oak Tree as my subject. The piece was not planned out and just a sketchbook entry. It helped me get out of my slump.
