Arbor Day, Poway Oak Tree

I am going to sit at a little Arbor Day Art Booth in April. I guess that's what made me do this little flyer about Arbor Day. Poway's City Logo has an Oak Tree on it so I used the Oak Tree as my subject. The piece was not planned out and just a sketchbook entry. It helped me get out of my slump.

Lydia, this flyer is cool! I also never knew there were 300 types of oak trees! We have a gnarly kind up here called the Gerry Oak. Sadly, they are fighting some kind of disease, but there is hope they might save them. They are really funny to look at, though - like little old arthritic men in the tree world.
I love the part of your drawing where you are cloud gazing and naming the varieties of oak. We have to wait a bit yet before we can curl up on the ground, it's still too cold and damp!!!

This is a wonderful journal page! You should have it printed as a photo poster and put it at the front of your booth in April.
