life drawing

I went to my friend's house for life drawing. There were only 3 of us but it was fun just the same. The model is also an artist so we had fun talking about art shows, techniques and materials. Too bad I didn't take some pictures of the other artist's work. One artist did pencil drawings from different angles and the other artist worked with oil crayons. Here is my work:

Sketchbook Journal entry 8

Notes and drawings from the first day of figure class with Annette Paquet
We will be doing black and white so I practiced from a photo. These are my brothers but it doesn't look like them in my drawing. Too bad. Drawn in a Moleskine with Micron pen and Japanese Brush Pen.

Paul Gauguin DVD

A thumbs up for this DVD from Blockbuster - The Post-Impressionists: Gauguin.

" Paul Gauguin was thirty-five when he made the momentous decision to abandon his lucrative career as a Paris stockbroker and devote himself full-time to painting. Gauguin’s bold use of flat, unmixed color gave his paintings a strong sense of personal expression, but his work struggled to find acceptance at the time. Poverty and obscurity dominated Gauguin’s years as an artist. Not even a move to Tahiti could bring him happiness. Yet the paintings that he created there are now recognized as masterpieces of the Post-Impressionist age." Quoted from Amazon.com DVD description.

Everyday Matters Challenge #11

EDM Challenge #11 is draw your glasses or sunglasses. I tried to draw them with out wearing any glasses and it was like doing a BLIND contour drawing while seeing double.

It was drawn with a Koh-i-noor Rapido Sketch Pen which is my current favorite drawing tool. The color was done in watercolor.

Four Facts: They are worn on the nose, they are worn on my neck, they were not worn while drawing them, I need them.

Everyday Matters Challenge #81

EDM Challenge 81 is draw a street light. My light is a boring rectangle shape. It was hot outside and my dog kept dropping his ball at my feet, waiting for me to throw it . . . poor thing.
This is pen and ink with watercolor drawn in a Moleskine.

EDM #131 Draw a spray bottle

Everyday Matters Challenge #131 is draw a spray bottle.

Sometimes when I draw people from life, I draw their heads really small. I guess I do it on spray bottles too!

I didn't want to draw a 409 bottle. I wanted to draw my water bottle that I use to spray my watercolor palette, but I couldn't find it.
Note: I DID NOT mean to draw my fingers in the "flipping off" position.
Drawn with waterproof ink and watercolor pencil.
