One of the shows at the San Diego Museum of Art is Charles Reiffel, an American Post-Impressionist. He is considered a leader in the California plein-air school of painting. What I enjoyed was seeing a variety of his work in gouache, watercoler, sketches, oils and even crayons. There were many local scenes in the exhibit which included Del Mar, La Jolla and the Old Town Area. Your fee to enter the SDMA includes the show at the San Diego History Center which has more of his work including illustrated letters he wrote to friends.
If you enjoy figures, there is also an exhibit on figures at the SDMA.
