Viking in oil pastel

This oil pastel sketch is 6 x 6 inches. I worked on gessoed paper from a reference photo I took while at the Vista Viking Festival 2015.

Tulips on gessoed paper

The quotes were glued on an encyclopedia page. I gessoed around the quotes and intended to watercolor after drawing the flowers with the brush pen. I stopped painting after I remembered how frustrating it is trying to lay watercolor on gessoed paper.
