Pottery

3rd pottery lesson with Valerie.
I made a saucer for my flower pot.
I needed a lot of help with this saucer,
I kept making air bubbles.
NOT with my mouth, in the clay.

DOUBLE HUGENESS

My sketchbook is so HUGE
I can't scan a whole page.
I get a little self conscious
when I take it out, open it,
and set it on my lap.
Now, it's
DOUBLE HUGE.
There were only 3 of us
in the waiting room
so I had the courage to
sketch this man across from me.
He reminded me of a pirate.
He wore a striped shirt,
matching pants,
and an extra wide leather belt
almost up to his chest.
I wonder why he was there.

Red, White and Blue

This man was at the
Old Fashioned Fourth of July event in my community.

We have an old Railroad Barn which runs a 1907 Baldwin on the weekends.

There was a Dixieland Band

and a craft fair.

This man was selling his hand crafted furniture.

EDM Challenge #1 Draw a shoe

This is Every Day Matters Challenge number 1, Draw a Shoe.
I drew it twice because of the tiny ankle hole.
I don't know why I drew the top so tiny.

Self Portrait Marathon Part 3

I just woke up.

On June 13, Self Portrait #2 I did a computer drawing and stated I liked "real" drawing better. I traced a photo for my computer drawing and it's a personal thing for me. I didn't get the same feeling when I traced the photo. My guts weren't really in the process. I didn't feel like I was really drawing. I want to clarify that I believe that the computer is a valid tool for drawing, and it is just that, another tool such as a pencil, pen or brush.

Court House Sketches

The gardner,the security police,
in the jury waiting room,
the patio cafe.

When sketching in public places I usually sit with my back against a wall
so people can't peek from behind me.
Do you see the little picture on the left, in the box?
I was drawing the security police when this lady with a baby
walked right up to me, practically touching my sketchbook with her stomach,
SMACK DAB in front of me.
She started reading the bulletin board above my head.
I felt a little uncomfortable . . . . .well . . . .very.

SELF Portrait Marathon

Here is the entry I drew for the self portrait maration. OOOPs,
I don't think it's really a portrait. I'll do a REAL one soon.
DARN!

Sketch and Paint Out

These are sketches from the NCSFA Sketch and Paint Out. There were 2 of us this time. I had a rectangle of beige on a sketch book page, painted about a month ago - for no apparent reason, This turned out to be a good back drop for the sketch of the pond, hills and houses. I also sketched a few sleeping ducks and just like people, they moved right after I started the sketch!
