Yesterday I was talking to a young lady about carrying a sketch book around. She rides the trolley quite a bit and I was telling her about some artists I know that draw subway people .. exclusively.
That evening while reading my Everyday Matters email I read a post that Suzanne Urban wrote about an artist named Marvin. He drew with a ball point pen and the article shows many of his subway sketches. He has some awesome drawings you can check out here: http://www.mollicastudio.com/htmlpages/marvin.html
My favorite art news website artdaily.org reported that Harvey Pekar died Monday. He was one of my favorite autobiographical comic book writers. He was 70. The article is here.
I worked on an old frame my daughter got rid of. It is metal and HAD hearts and flowers which I covered up with other metal things. the intention is to use it for my vw pictures. I am still working on it.
I went to my friend's house for life drawing. There were only 3 of us but it was fun just the same. The model is also an artist so we had fun talking about art shows, techniques and materials. Too bad I didn't take some pictures of the other artist's work. One artist did pencil drawings from different angles and the other artist worked with oil crayons. Here is my work:
sketching at the San Diego International Airport while waiting for my daughter. It was nice that people stayed still ... because they were um.. waiting.
