Today I got to attend a Lecture: Japanese Prints for Books, at the San Diego Museum of Art. Dr. Masato Nishimura explained Japanese woodblock-print books, including those in the museum's permanent collection. It was hosted by The Asian Arts Council. Aside from all the members of the AAC in attendance there were many docents and an art appraiser I sat next to.
I learned about characteristics of Asian art as well as the history of Japanese block prints used in books. The photos I am posting are pages from my sketchbook done while in attendance at the lecture.
