Palisades Park, Pacific Beach, California

The San Diego Watercolor Society Paint out was at Palisades Park in Pacific Beach. We had a good turn out again. The view from the park included the pier on one side and cliff side houses on the other. I drew the houses because the pier was hard for me see because of the overcast sky.

Our group critique. I loved the piece he is holding. Nice strong bold colors with the red orange rooftops complimenting the bright green grass.

Our group.

My piece, pen and ink with watercolor. The image is about 8 x 10 inches.

A little art card, going for bright and bold inspired by the piece I admired.

Joey

Me and my neighbor went to the Science Museum today. I didn't draw much so I drew a few art cards to put on my Ebay store when I got home.

Old Poway Park Windmill

It's always an invigorating experience painting and drawing on location but not today. It was early but already steaming hot so I sat in the shade under a huge tree. Suddenly I was in the sun, with ants biting my hands and feet, with a few flys buzzing around landing on my drawing every once in a while. We call those things the "elements". I was baring the elements, and here is my piece.
I am selling it on Ebay with a starting bid of $40.

6th and C, Coronado

This pen and ink with watercolor was painted on location. It shows a VW bus parked in front of houses on the corner of 6th Street and C Avenue in Coronado. This was done while on a paint out with the San Diego Watercolor Society at Spreckles Park.

House on C Avenue, Coronado

This house on C Avenue was painted and drawn from Spreckles Park in Coronado. It is available matted, shrink and shrink wrapped, unframed. Visit the Gallery to purchase for $30.

SDWS Paint Out - Spreckles Park, Coronado

Yesterday the San Diego Watercolor Society Paint Out was at Spreckles Park in Coronado . It's kind of a plain park with a beautiful old gazebo.

The best part was listening to these older ladies having a blast behind me. Four older women playing paddle ball, frisbee and tossing that velcro ball that sticks on a velcro paddle, laughing, and giggling as they tossed to each other.

Most of the artists painted the gazebo or trees but I painted a few houses on C Avenue and 6th Street. Here are some pics:

The artist's paintings. Mine is the double, second from the right.
Jim is an artist I admire. This is his piece in progress. He was painting the gazebo and library in the background.

Everyday Matters Challenge #11

EDM Challenge #11 is draw your glasses or sunglasses. I tried to draw them with out wearing any glasses and it was like doing a BLIND contour drawing while seeing double.

It was drawn with a Koh-i-noor Rapido Sketch Pen which is my current favorite drawing tool. The color was done in watercolor.

Four Facts: They are worn on the nose, they are worn on my neck, they were not worn while drawing them, I need them.

Yellow Flowers Aceo

The flowers in this ACEO were purchased at the Farmers Market in Poway. They were so pretty I just had to draw and paint them.
SOLD

Everyday Matters Challenge #81

EDM Challenge 81 is draw a street light. My light is a boring rectangle shape. It was hot outside and my dog kept dropping his ball at my feet, waiting for me to throw it . . . poor thing.
This is pen and ink with watercolor drawn in a Moleskine.

EDM #131 Draw a spray bottle

Everyday Matters Challenge #131 is draw a spray bottle.

Sometimes when I draw people from life, I draw their heads really small. I guess I do it on spray bottles too!

I didn't want to draw a 409 bottle. I wanted to draw my water bottle that I use to spray my watercolor palette, but I couldn't find it.
Note: I DID NOT mean to draw my fingers in the "flipping off" position.
Drawn with waterproof ink and watercolor pencil.
